Install the official Belgian eID software

Developed by the Belgian government, this software lets your computer talk to the ID card.

Install Synkro eID Bridge

This small Synkro app links your card reader to the web app. It must stay open while you use Synkro.

macOS: open the .dmg and launch the app. Windows: run the .exe, the synkro:// protocol is configured automatically.

Plug in a USB card reader

Any PC/SC-compatible reader works. Common models cost €15–25 and are available on Amazon or in computer shops.

How does it work? Once the 3 pieces are in place, open the “New patient” form in Synkro. The Scan eID card button activates automatically. Insert the patient’s card, click the button, the record fills in within seconds.

Synkro eID Bridge must stay open while you use Synkro.
